Your Waste Check

Are you handling your waste correctly and legally?
The “duty of care regulations” places a responsibility on the waste producer to ensure their waste is handled by a registered person or company and to ensure that the movement and disposal of the waste is recorded on the appropriate prescribed paperwork.

Do you pre-treat your waste?
Legislation was introduced in October 2007 which stated that the waste producer should pre-sort their waste prior to collection and sign a declaration to say they have done so prior to allowing a waste collector to remove their waste. If they were not in the position to pre-sort waste for what ever reason then the declaration would state this and the waste collection company could not take the waste direct to landfill and they would have to take it to a treatment or recycling facility. This legislation was introduced to divert waste from landfill facilities and encourage further recycling or reuse of some material which would have alternatively been disposed of. This ensures the preservation of valuable landfill space and the environment in general. If you require additional information on this legislation and how it affects you please contact us for advice.

Would a Waste Audit be of benefit to you?

In order to ensure you meet all your legal requirements why not ask Waste Check to carry out an audit of your site, your waste arisings and current management procedures. Designed to give you sensible and affordable options, our audit will allow you to introduce new initiatives in respect of green policies you may wish to pursue, and certify you as being a responsible waste producer in full compliance with current legislation.
